Each year we ask our members to donate to the club with the understanding that it will be used for the good of not only our community, but also the international community for our Good Works programs. Without this resource, our impact is diminished, and those that can possibly benefit, may never feel our impact.
I ask as this year's club president, and on behalf of the club, that each of us helps through a donation to our club if you haven't already. This can be a direct contribution in addition to a request of family, friends and others, to assist Rotary, and to be part of the Good Works that we provide all year long!
Recently an electronic donation form was sent out which briefly highlighted our past works and priorities. This is one way to encourage others to make a difference through their own donation. Similar to last year, we make this easy by providing this standard form that can be returned to our club mailing address, in addition to an online option at www.elkrapidsrotary.org . Simply visit our site and follow the link.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely, Doug VanCura
Recently, one of our guest speakers was Haley Breniser of Ravenhill Discovery Center. Raven Hill Discovery Center opened in 1992 in East Jordan. It is a unique place in northern Lower Michigan where children and adults can link science, history & the arts with hands-on activities and explorations both indoors and outdoors. Haley did a wonderful job of telling their story and many members Rotary members contributed stories of their own.
Nancy Wonch our membership chair is presenting membership certificate to Paul Wonacott, our newest member. Welcome Paul!

This past week, we all heard the latest updates from the Karen Morris and Brenda Miller of HERTHA regarding the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall (Herth). This is a local treasure and with a recent new director, they will continue to expand their offerings to the community. These include line dancing, local artists, and currently the Elk Rapids Players and their presentation of Lionel Barts "Oliver!".
On November 5th, there was a multi club mixer at Middle Coast Brewery that included members of Rotary from the Elk Rapids, Suttons Bay, Traverse City Noon and Traverse City Sunrise clubs. This proved to be a great event where fellowship with other members provided great insight into the activities of neighboring clubs, old friends were reacquainted, and Julie Schumaker, our current District Governor presented her priorities and guidance for her current leadership term. Elk Rapids was strongly represented and fun was had by all.
