Elk Rapids Rotarians came together to build a much-needed ramp for Dean Branson.

Our friend, mentor, service partner, past president, and all around good guy, Dean Branson, has Bulbar Amyotrophic Sclerosis, ALS.  Sadly, he cannot participate in club activities, community service projects, and meetings as much as he would like to do.  Dean has always been a giver!

It was now our turn to give back to Dean and his family by building a ramp. Thanks to good planning and shopping plus the installation wizardry of George Seifried and Tom Bowes, we repurposed two sections of dock to make Dean Branson’s ramp.  His sons, David and Dennis, also pitched in to make it happen for dad.

What an honor it is to reach out and make a difference for a family that has made a difference for so many in our local and international communities. This was truly service above self!       (
A special shout out goes to Jim Nothoff for providing photos and text!)
